Another first on my way to recovery
Today in physio, i put another theory to the test..
although having to deal with yet another set back (i’ll get my moan out first ) i wanted a harness for safety.. it was ordered and paid for (@ nearly £200) it turned up yesterday.. they sent me a toilet sling!! but because i am bit too impatient i wasn’t waiting any more.. i usually stand in my chair at 85% with only knee block, so we took the knee block away, using the leg braces to act as my “seat belt” we used the quad gloves to give maximum grip on the crutches, i used the chair to stand me upright.. once in position at 85% my physio (Stephen Barwise) pulled me forward, as i began to take the weight through my legs i attempted to stabilize with my arms using the crutches..
i was free standing for the first time since 14th Dec 2006! only for a few seconds.. but still a first…
when i first tried to sit unaided on the edge of the bed.. i did it for 6 seconds, within a couple of weeks i could sit for 10 plus minutes.. so i am very positive. once my harness arrives i will be able to be hoisted upright.. then by stabilizing myself through my legs and crutches i “should” stand for longer, and then once i’m there gradually taking the weight from the harness i’ll be standing, then i can play around with parallel bars and in future a tread mill bringing me that little bit closer to my goal - alexwillwalkagain.com

HI Alex,
Good to read how you are getting on, I know you will walk again I do not have a doubt in my mind.
Keep up the hard work and positive attitude and you will be rewarded, I promise !
