My Story...
Hi I’m Alex and I’m a marine engineer, while working out in the Caribbean in 2006 during some leisure time I went swimming and my whole life changed in an instant... I hit my head on a sand bank and broke my neck. The vertebrae at c5 fractured and c6 broke into three parts one of which damaged my spinal cord, leaving me paralysed from the chest down. More

i went bathroom shopping today, pushing completely independent.. once home i did 12.6miles on the FES Bike, it’s the best theropy – then had a nap

wednesday

yet again another 6.3miles and a very independant transfer follow by a couple of bottles of becks as the summers back.. i hope to bike and swim tomorrow

Hey

8.7miles FES style on the legs and 6.3miles with the arm bike and some good transfers.. then a look at the progress on with the new build

6.3

with the RTI 300 FES bike i’ve just completed my 6.3miles for today, each transfer i’m working on my independence.. i’m going to buy a rope ladder to assist me with the transfers in the new place – in theory (my theory) i should be able to pull up and “swing” into the boma and go where i want from my bed – FULLY independent (nearly).

After the FES bike and a bbq

today

i will be doing my arm and leg bike.. and weather permitting i will swim, i have now got a treadmill and my boma on order

Happy day’s

Yesterday i did my 6.3miles with the arm bike and 9 with the legs, today i have just done another 6.3miles with the arm bike, this afternoon im going into town to pick up the treadmill so it can be installed in the new build ready for extreme physio – i’m well on the way to my first step!

My Boma wheel chair has just gone into production as i have the funds now for it (from selling my e-motion wheels and the permobile electric chair)

And… i can breathe fine now my nose is all fixed! and i slept well last night – so things are looking better

I NEED TO BE INDEPENDANT

Live a day in my body… see what i go thru – emotionally, physically.. mentally….

FES

another 6.3miles today.. im now alternating arm bike one day, then leg and arm the next – slow and steady. plus some updated photo’s of the new house…

The next step..

Today after pt, we have knocked the sessions back to once a week with Steve.. for now i can continue along with the equipment that i have on a daily basis, this is until im in my new house where we will go on to the next step in physio using the treadmill – things should speed up then, having a purpose built place based around my physio/recovery – built around me..

recovery… i’ve said many times now.. im not giving up – i can’t just sit still and wait to die.. i need to get up out of this chair – i still have my life to build, i’m not stopping yet!

one thing we all have to do is die! but no-one can dictate how you live your life but YOU
